The presentation of artificial intelligence (AI)-based ChatGPT at the end of 2022 made a lot of noise around the world. And with the release of this advanced tool to the public in February 2023 in Ukraine, interest from potential users has increased even more. And no wonder, because this free assistant in the form of a chat-bot can help you create a content plan, prepare the script for reels, write a post for social networks and perform many other tasks much faster than a person.
A feature of ChatGPT, like any neural network, is that the service is constantly learning. That's why it generates all of its subsequent responses based on previously provided responses. And here it is important to note: in order for the AI responses to be of high quality, the requests from the task creator must also be of high quality. After all, otherwise you have to face a number of problems.
The most common problems that occur when using ChatGPT
- The answer is irrelevant.
The reason is that the service doesn't understand the user's request or doesn't understand it in the meaning it was intended.
- The instructions provided in the request are not respected.
This happens when the wording of the problem statement is vague or does not correspond to the general topic of the dialog.
- The answer is too general and uninformative.
This usually occurs because ChatGPT did not receive detailed instructions for the task, or received too broad a request.
- Repetitive and unrelated responses.
When the chatbot is approached with different questions, but in the same context, it may give the same answer each time, or give unrelated answers. Most likely, the service lacks relevant information on a specific topic.
If you want to use an innovative tool in your work or for your personal needs as effectively as possible, do not be lazy to read the basic rules for handling it.
10 basic tips for working with ChatGPT
- Define the audience.
You need to clearly understand the audience for which the text, created on the basis of the information generated by the chatbot, should be targeted. Age, gender, professional interests and other preferences, etc. matter. Because this determines whether the material will be easily perceived by the reader and be useful to them.
- Define ChatGPT role.
According to the first point and should be asked to write a ChatGPT text: for example, as an elementary school teacher, author of scientific papers, a doctor, a marketer, etc. It is also appropriate to specify the desired style: artistic, scientific, conversational or any other. If the text is written in a language that is difficult for the perception of your category of readers, then you will not achieve your goal.
- Write in English.
In this case, you will get the best results, because the vocabulary of ChatGPT in Ukrainian is not rich yet. And if you don't know English, you can use Google Translate both to translate your request and to translate the received answer.
- Formulate your request clearly and concisely.
An ambiguous formulation or too broad a request can steer the conversation in the wrong direction. To get a proper answer, the question must be unambiguous and clear. For example, instead of asking, "What do you know about sleep normalization?" it's better to ask, What foods should I include in my diet to sleep better?"
- Set an acceptable response format.
When contacting the service, it's a good idea to specify the format of the answer that's acceptable to you. For example, "Break the text into paragraphs 3-5 sentences long", "Format the result as a list", etc.
- Set limits.
When setting a task for the chatbot, specify at once a sufficient amount of material for you (e.g. 2000 letters), prescribe undesirable elements, or let the user know whether humor is appropriate in the text.
- Use keywords.
To emphasize the things that are important to you, it is advisable to use thematic keywords in the prompts (the so-called "prompt"). Their presence in the design will be able to give the service the right vector for finding information.
- Avoid using specific vocabulary.
Jargon, slang, complex technical terms and other specialized vocabulary may be incomprehensible to the service, so it is better not to use them unless absolutely necessary. Another thing is if the context of the question you are investigating requires it. But then it's worth first finding out whether ChatGPT has a proper understanding of it.
- Create separate dialogs for different topics.
It is important to stick to one topic within one conversation, because the history of each conversation is where the AI learns. Therefore, if you need to get information on a different topic, you need to switch to a new conversation.
- Be polite.
Despite the fact that ChatGPT is not a living creature, be respectful while communicating with the service. Use words of gratitude such as "You're welcome", "Thank you" and the like to create a pleasant atmosphere.
In general, using ChatGPT is not as difficult as it may seem at first glance. If you follow these tips, your own assistant will be able to generate correct results quickly and free. And it will increase your productivity and make you more competitive in your field. Try it and see for yourself!
