How to configure connection via network card in Linux using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS as an example

1. Click on the network connection icon (first icon on the top right) — «Wired Connected» — «Wired Settings».
   
2. On the left side of the settings, select «Network» and click the gear next to the wired connection.
   

In this menu we can check the current network parameters such as:

• connection speed to the device;
• IPv4/IPv6 address;
• MAC address;
• gateway;
• DNS (from the ISP).
  

Changing the MAC address of the network card

Next, you need to check the current MAC address of the device and verify it with the one you should have. You can check it with technical support by phone or in chat. You can also check it in your personal cabinet in the «Services» — «Internet» section https://my.maxnet.ua/en/login/.

To change the MAC-address go to the «Identity» tab, select the line «MAC Address» and specify the necessary one in the same format as on the photo (XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX). Then click «Apply».

After updating the MAC address, reboot the network connection. You can now check the Internet.

Commands in the terminal

The terminal allows you to check the network parameters of your PC. You can view your IP and MAC address (physical address), check the availability of Internet resources and the stability of the connection.

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + T.
2. In the terminal window that appears, enter these commands one by one:
   

   ip a

   
3. Check the availability of a resource (for example, your favorite website or game server). Your PC sends a request and receives a response from the desired IP address. If all responses are received, it indicates a stable connection.
   

   ping google.com

   

Perform a trace to the address of interest. With this program you can collect and analyze your connection to a given address. The main parameters here are Loss% and the number of nodes a packet will traverse before reaching the destination address.
