Reliable in blackouts
GPON, or Gigabit Passive Optical Network, is a modern data transmission technology standard that uses optical communications to provide high-speed Internet access. This advanced technology allows users to get a reliable and efficient connection that meets the demands of today's Internet consumer.
The optical cable used in GPON technology transmits huge amounts of data using light signals. GPON uses the principle of "passive optical network equipment", which means that there are no active components in the signal transmission path. This makes the system resistant to power failures and ensures efficient data transmission over long distances.
More details
Uninterrupted connection at gigabit speeds
Gigabit access
You get a personalised bandwidth of up to 1 Gbps.
Energy efficiency
With backup power for your equipment, the Internet continues to work even in the absence of light.
Versatility
GPON transmits not only Internet, but also telephony and TV services, which allows you to integrate different services through one optical cable.
Affordability
To connect GPON Internet we provide a subscriber terminal on favourable terms, which is easy to hide due to its compact size.
Reliability
The Internet signal is always stable thanks to lightning resistance, the absence of electrical interference and the absence of nodes on the path from the central to the home equipment.
Efficient administration
Modern GPON technology allows you to quickly solve 90% of the problems faced by subscribers without specialists travelling to the address.

GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) is a modern technology that works on the principle of subscriber connection by fibre optic cable directly from the data centre without intermediate active equipment. I.e., Internet connection using GPON technology involves the use of a 100% optical channel from the provider's host to the subscriber's home or office.
Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) and Ethernet are two different data transmission technologies with their own characteristics. Some of the main differences between GPON and Ethernet include:
What to choose — GPON or Ethernet — depends on the personal needs of the subscriber, the scale and requirements of a particular application.
XG-PON (10G-PON) is the next generation fibre optic network standard. If we compare between XG-PON and GPON, they are different fibre optic internet access technologies.
Key advantages of XG-PON technology over GPON:
Currently, Maxnet has already implemented XG-PON technology connection for part of its network coverage.
GPON, like other Internet technologies, requires power. However, it is much easier to reserve equipment for GPON Internet operation due to the absence of active components on the signal transmission path. The main condition: both active equipment of the provider and Internet devices of the subscriber must be connected to the uninterrupted network.
Maxnet company provides redundant power supply of GPON equipment at server sites, so if the subscriber has a UPS, the Internet will work even without light.
With backup power supplied to GPON equipment at server nodes by uninterruptible power sources (UPS) and generators, Maxnet provides continued operation of the Internet without light for up to 72 hours in standard conditions.
To reserve power to your equipment, you can use a standard power bank paired with a DC-USB converter, or a mini UPS.
For backup power supply of Wi-Fi router during blackouts, it is better to choose a model of power bank, which outputs different voltages: 5 V, 9 V and 12 V. Then you will only need a USB to DC cable with a 5.5/2.5 mm plug to power your router from a portable charger.
If the output voltage of your router is 9 V or 12 V, a USB-DC cable for 9 V or 12 V, respectively, without a trigger will do. In case the voltage is not more than 5 V, you need a cable with a trigger (switch) to boost it. To select the appropriate power switch cable, see the voltage and amperage specifications on the back of the router.
When you have everything you need to connect your Wi-Fi router to the power bank, it remains to plug the cable into the USB port on the power bank and the DC port on the router. Thus, your Internet will be able to work uninterruptedly for 4-6 hours from the moment of power outage (duration depends on the capacity of your power bank). If the external battery is equipped with a fast charging function, this allows you to fully charge it in 1-3 hours instead of the usual 6-8 hours.
To connect the mini UPS to a switch or Wi-Fi router, do the following:
Depending on the power consumption of your devices, this compact UPS will provide up to 6-18 hours of autonomous operation from the moment of power failure.
An optical cable that transmits a light signal is fed to the subscriber's premises. The device that converts it into the electric one we are used to, which goes to the end subscriber equipment (router/PC) is an optical terminal ONT.
Depending on the technology standard used by the provider, these terminals may differ. In addition, there are ONT models that support many services other than Internet (eg, SIP, Wi-Fi, etc.). Therefore, it is necessary to choose an optical terminal taking into account all factors, and it is better to contact your provider to choose the model according to your needs.
We provide a wide range of Internet equipment for different requests and help you choose the appropriate models before connecting to GPON.
Today GPON Internet connection is relatively inexpensive. To connect GPON at a promotional price is sometimes even cheaper than Ethernet.
The price depends on many factors: the type of building, the availability of coverage at a particular address, the availability of the necessary equipment at the subscriber, etc.
